Changing the look and sometimes the entire arrangement of kitchen furniture may take some time. Although, if you have an IKEA kitchen, you can use its modality to do it quicker and easier. Replacing old cabinet fronts with new ones is an approachable first step. Sometimes the entire IKEA kitchen doesn’t need to be changed. You can focus on refreshing the general look. After changing some details, you will be able to use it for more years to come.
To change cabinet fronts, you can check what options are available in our store and order the replacements that will fit you best. You can change the design, colour and material of your furniture fronts. For example: if you want to change classic IKEA white cabinet doors for something more vivid, we offer a wide variety of designs and over 2000 different colours.
By adding a few details, like different handles or furniture legs, you can further change the look of your kitchen furniture. Such details can also affect the entire user experience.
IKEA kitchen remodelling in practice
It is quite simple in theory, but what does it look like in practice? Using Noremax products, you can change cabinet fronts, but a whole IKEA kitchen remodelling is also a possibility. You only need to carefully plan the appearance of your new kitchen to create the arrangement that will serve you well and for many years. Sometimes it means adding some cabinets and other elements. In other cases, you may prefer to take something away. If your kitchen is too crowded, it’s better to leave fewer furniture pieces and rethink the storage system. Some kitchen dishes like pots and pans can be hung on a rack. Even cups can look nice if you put them on hooks, especially if you choose colourful, pretty designed cups or mugs.
IKEA kitchen remodelling may also include adding or changing shelves. There are kitchen items that serve better when they are exposed. A fitting shelf is an ideal place to show them. Shelves in the kitchen can also be useful to beautify the space with plants. It can be any plant or a few pots with edible herbs and spices.
Where does Noremax fit in in all of this? We can offer these shelves. There is an entire distinct section dedicated to shelves. However, we mostly offer custom doors for IKEA cabinets. If you need them to fit a new arrangement in your kitchen, there are a various designs to choose from.
Handleless or traditional opening?
One of the many options is the possibility of not using handles. There are many reasons you might want to choose that option. Handleless cabinet doors and drawers look smooth and modern. If you haven’t installed a push opener already, you can do so while remodelling your IKEA kitchen. Handleless cabinets also take less space in a room and are safer if small children are running around. It is a good, simple way to make your kitchen easier to use. By just pushing gently, you can open any cabinet door. The idea can be practical, especially with top cabinets. Pulling the handle when the door is above your head can be challenging. It’s much easier to push it gently to open. The installation of a handleless mechanism can be useful if your IKEA kitchen remodelling includes raising some cabinets higher than they were previously.
Colour and material
Colours are a crucial part of any design. You probably have already some plans about it. Sometimes it depends on existing elements in the kitchen or is just a personal choice.
If you are looking for a specific colour for IKEA door replacements, you must know that there are many colour options to choose from, but some materials can’t be covered with paint. If you order a bamboo kitchen, for example, then you can have it in two colours. If you dream about smooth IKEA black cabinet doors or fronts in vivid colours you can then choose another material. MDF is the best choice for those, who want to use one of the thousands of colours from our palettes. We can also recommend the ash veneer as a good material to paint. Although you can also choose to stain wooden fronts, to preserve their natural look.
To create a new colour pattern, when you have your IKEA kitchen remodelled, check NCS, Farrow&Ball and Jotun palettes. Colours are represented there by specific colour codes. You can choose practically any colour you like and send us the colour code from one of those charts.
There is also an option for those who don’t have special wishes when it comes to colours. Most used colours are simply displayed on the product site. If you like one of them, you can check the box next to it and complete the order. Details, like plinth or décor strip, are painted in the same colour as the fronts by default.
Furniture legs and remodelling of the IKEA kitchen
Some pieces of furniture need a base. The option to add legs to a cabinet can both be a practical or an aesthetic choice. There are two options regarding furniture legs. You can either hide them behind a plinth or show them and expose the space underneath the cabinet. There are some practical and aesthetic consequences of each choice.
Exposed legs and space under cabinets make the entire kitchen look lighter. It also enables more profound sweeping and mopping. By leaving this space open more light and air is allowed to come there. It exposes any dirt, but if you keep it clean, it also prevents pests and fungi from appearing. The plinth that hides
the legs, on the other hand, makes a kitchen look more solid and stable. A plinth can be another decorative detail too. It can complete a kitchen with a modern look.
The furniture legs that Noremax offers are more suitable for other types of storage, like side tables and buffets. If you have decided to add or replace furniture legs from us, we have a wide range of colours, materials and variations that can help you with that task.
All of our furniture legs are cone-shaped. You can get them in one of two lengths (30 cm or 17 cm). One of the most important features of this furniture element is the material they are made of. Natural beech is a durable wood. It is perfect to bear even heavy cabinets, with dishes and smaller appliances hidden inside.
The furniture legs can be painted in any chosen colour and covered with a gloss finish, just like our ash wooden fronts. You can use metallic leg tips to match handles or other elements that you might have. We offer four kinds of furniture legs’ tips: chrome, black metal, brass and copper.
